Statement of Faith

The Scriptures
Ex. 20:1; Deut. 18:18; Jer. 30:1-2; Ex. 31:18, 34:27; John 14:26, 15:26; 2 Tim. 3:16-17

We believe that all scripture was given by direct inspiration of God, through the agent of the Holy Spirit,  and that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God in its entirety (the completed canon of scripture).

We believe that only the original manuscripts were directly inspired.  However, evidence supports our belief  that God has preserved the exact text through copies of the original manuscripts to allow us to have accurate copies and translations of the scriptures today.

We believe that all Christians are to study the scriptures because they are the authority for our faith and our practical guide for living.

The Triune God
Gen. 1:1, 26-27; Ex. 3:13-15; 20:1-7; 34:6-7; Deut. 6:4; Job38:1-11; Mt. 6:9; 28:19; Jn. 4:24; Acts 17:24-28; 1 Pet.1:2

We believe that there is only one God and that He eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Each person of the Godhead has the same nature, attributes, and perfection, while having a distinct personality and function.

The Deity & Virgin Birth and Place of Christ in the Scriptures
Ps. 2:6-7; Is. 52:13-53:12; Mt. 1:18-25; 11:27; Mk. 14:61-62; 10:45; Lk. 1:31-33; 2:10-11; Jn. 1:1-3

We believe that Christ is fully God as the second member of the Trinity.  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  The basic thread of the entire Bible is the person and work of Christ.

The Deity, Personality and Present Work of the Holy Spirit
Ps. 139:7; Jn. 14:15-19, 25-26; 16:7-13; Rom. 8:1-17, 23, 26-27; 1 Cor. 2:10-16; 3:16-17; 6:19; 12:1-13

As the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to our hearts. He effectively calls us to God in Christ. He unites us to Christ through regeneration. He sanctifies us (makes us holy) by conforming our character to the character of Christ.

The Spirit indwells us, comforts us, guides us, and instructs us. He empowers us for godly living and calls us to serve God obediently in this world. He assures us of our salvation so we can know that nothing will separate us from the love of God.

The Human Race
Gen. 1:26-27; 2:7, 16-17; 3:1-19; 6:5; Ps. 14:2-3; 51:5; 53:2-3; Mt 15:19; Rom 3:9-18, 23

We believe that Man was originally created by God in His image and after His likeness.  He fell from his innocence by eating the forbidden fruit.  The result of this sin was that he immediately became dead in trespasses and sins and subject to the power of Satan.

We believe that spiritual death (the total corruption of human nature) has been transmitted to the entire human race, except the man Christ Jesus.  Every child of Adam is born into the world with a nature which not only possesses no spark of divine life, but is essentially sinful, causing enmity against God, and is incapable by any human means to become obedient to His law.

Salvation by Grace Through Faith
Eph 2:8-9; Acts 16:31; 2:38; 1 Jn 1:9

We believe that our salvation in Christ is received by faith alone.  The moment we trust in Him as our Savior, we pass out of death into everlasting life, being justified from all our sin, accepted by the Father, loved as Christ is loved, and are one with Him forever.

Regeneration of Fallen Man
Jn 3:3-7; Rom 8:1-4; Tit 3:4-5

We believe that as a result of universal death and depravity in sin, no person can enter the Kingdom of God unless born again.  Regeneration of fallen man is only possible through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.  The believer becomes a new creation in Christ at the moment of salvation.

Redemption by the Blood of Christ
Rom 5:8-9; 1 Pet 2:24; Eph 1:7

We believe that our redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.  He was made to be sin and a curse for us.  No human effort can add to the finished work of Christ who is both fully God and fully man.
